A PRODUCTION NOTE FROM RUMI KITCHEN
This video is the story of a surreal domestic space relationship gone wrong. We very much had a blast making this video. We holed up in our fav Sine Studios downtown, got styled with make-up by our genius friend Gwendolyn Rooker, and just generally acted it all out in front of green screen - danced, drank, ate, and then had a food fight and kiss. I produced, ever-genius Max Margulies aka Airyon Love directed, Will Butera helped with cameras and vibes, and OH GAWD did James Cooper star as the leading lady in an AMAZING BREAK-OUT PERFORMANCE - full of sass, flavor, and all the faces. Lux Nauta and Vince the LION made some tasty tasty cameos. Max and I edited and got real turned on by videos from NASA(Thank you, NASA), the random, hilarious green screen stock videos we could find on youtube for free, and the 90's recruitment videos(dig this) of the Nuwaubians and Dr. Malachi Z. York. The idea for gold face came later, divinely. The video premiered on JUMP Philly with a write-up by our man George HERE. You had better get yo ass in that Space Camaro tho.
A DIRECTOR'S NOTE FROM RUMI KITCHEN
We released the "Falling Out of the Universe" video on February 11, 2017 to coincide with the Earth fly-by of Comet 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova. It was a magnificent greeny hazy comet in the early morning sky. This video was fun-filmed in the Fels Planetarium at The Franklin Institute(a TREASURE) and at our studio, The Golden Room, in Germantown, Philadelphia, two blocks away from The Sun Ra Arkestra house. Airyon Love from the Shy Boyz helped with cameras and Gretchen Lohse and Thomas Hughes from Carol Cleveland Sings spearheaded the stop motion animations. The genius drummer Will Butera helped with editing and generally took the tech reins for this one. It is bang bang with smoke and mirror cape, lights and Hoverkicks. It was premiered with a top-notch write-up on our fav blog Philebrity. CAUTION!!! COLOR STROBES may cause serious death.
